In this charming domestic tale from Hungarian filmmaker Adam Breier, mordant humour intertwines with genuine warmth as we follow the journey of a Jewish family toward reconciliation. Tamas, an aging but tender boxing coach in present-day Budapest, finds himself grappling with a strained relationship with his son, Ivan. Ivan, having converted to Orthodox Judaism, relocated to Israel, where he started a family of his own, including a son named Ariel whom Tamas has never met.

When Ivan and Ariel return to Budapest for the funeral of Tamas’s wife, the fractured family must confront their unresolved conflicts. Breier’s film is a testament to masterful storytelling, characterized by superb performances and direction that deftly balances comedy with poignant moments of reflection.

As Tamas and Ivan navigate the complexities of their relationship, Breier’s filmoffers a poignant exploration of love, loss, and the enduring bonds that tie families together, capturing the intricacies of human connection with nuance and depth.
