Commerce Disclosure

This disclosure outlines the key information regarding Vancouver Jewish Film Centre (the “Society”),
a not-for-profit corporation registered in Canada with charitable status.

1. Corporate Status
   • Vancouver Jewish Film Centre is incorporated under the B.C. Provincial Legislation 
   • The Society operates as a registered charity under the Income Tax Act (Canada) and holds a valid charitable registration number: BN89254- 4065 RR0001.

2. Purpose and Activities

1. • The Society is organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes. It provides a cultural filmed showcase of the diversity of Jewish culture, heritage, and identity through film. The Society is about building bridges and connections among all our various communities. and celebrating exceptional filmmaking.
   • All activities and operations of the Society are conducted in furtherance of its charitable objectives and in accordance with applicable Canadian laws and regulations.

3. Revenue and Funding

1. • The Society is funded through a combination of grants, donations, sponsorships, and other revenue streams permitted under its charitable status.
   • Any revenues generated are reinvested into the Society’s programs and activities to further its charitable objectives. No part of the income or assets is distributable to its members, directors, or officers except as reasonable compensation for services rendered in furtherance of its mission.

4. Tax Receipts

1. • As a registered charity, the Society is authorized to issue official donation receipts for income tax purposes for qualifying contributions received from Canadian donors.
   • Donations are subject to the rules and guidelines set out by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA).

5. Transparency and Reporting

1. • The Society is committed to financial transparency and accountability. Annual financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and are available upon request.
   • The Society’s registered charity information return (T3010) is filed annually with the CRA and is publicly accessible through the CRA’s Charities Listing.

6. Commerce and Business Activities

1. • Any business activities undertaken by the Society are ancillary or incidental to its charitable purposes and comply with the guidelines set forth by the CRA for registered charities.
   • The Society does not carry out unrelated commercial activities for private profit.

7. Use of Donations

1. • Donations received by the Society are used exclusively to support its charitable programs and initiatives. Restricted donations are applied in accordance with the donor’s wishes, provided they align with the Society’s mission and legal obligations.

8. Conflicts of Interest

1. • The Society maintains policies to address conflicts of interest among its directors, officers, and members to ensure decisions are made in the best interests of the Society and its beneficiaries.

9. Limitations on Liability

1. • The directors and officers of the Society are protected from personal liability arising from actions taken in good faith in the course of their duties, as permitted under applicable legislation and the Society’s governing documents.
