Do you screen any films outside of the Main Festival?

How can I get tickets?

Individual tickets for films in the Main Festival can be purchased online, via telephone, or at individual venue box offices. See Ticket Info for details.

The method for purchasing tickets to our year-round programs varies from show to show. See the individual Upcoming Screenings listing for information.

When is The Vancouver Jewish Film Festival?

Our annual Festival takes place during the last week of October and first week of November. Specific dates are posted on this website early each year. For 2009 the dates are October 30 - November 11th.

Where do your screenings take place?

We screen films at several movie theaters throughout the greater Vancouver area. Our primary venues for the Main Festival are the 5th Avenue Theatres, the Ridge Theatre, and the Park Theatre. Information on specific venues can be found in our Festival Venues section and in our Upcoming Screenings section. Visit our Venues page for details.

Film Inquiries

Do you rent out your films?

No. We make arrangements to screen films for the public at theater venues throughout greater Vancouver. We do not have films available for individual or group use.

How can I find other Jewish film festivals?

The National Foundation for Jewish Culture maintains a listing of Jewish Film Festivals around the world on their website.

How can I rent a film to show at my synagogue, festival, school, etc.?

You need to contact the film's distributor - or print source - to find out what their rental policies are. We list print sources for all the films we've shown in the Festival, either in our Archive section or our current Festival Print Sources section.

How do I find out if a film is available for home rental or purchase?

We do our best to include notice of dvd/vhs availability in our film Archive section. However, you can also search for the film by title at www.imdb.com and the result will tell you if the film is currently available on dvd or vhs.

I am starting a new Jewish (or other) Film Festival in my area. Any advice?

The San Francisco Jewish Film Festival has produced a wonderful guide to planning a new film festival.

I'm trying to find a film you screened in the past, can you help?

Yes! Visit our searchable Archive of all the films that have screened in the Festival (coming soon).

For Filmmakers

How can I submit my film for consideration in your Festival?

Full details on the film submission process can be found on our Call for Entries page. Please read and follow all guidelines carefully. Submissions are not accepted without the Call for Entry form.

What genre of films do you accept?

Films may be of any genre and any length, but must meet the following thematic criteria: films must highlight the Jewish experience; explore Jewish culture/heritage/history; or be of particular interest to the Jewish community.

When does the festival accept submissions?

All year round. Check the Submission section under Annual Festival for forms and deadlines
