In Alexandria, Egypt, the synagogue of the once largest Jewish community in the world is about to be shut down. To prevent this, Ben, an ultra-Orthodox Jew from Brooklyn visiting Jerusalem, is dispatched to Egypt as the crucial tenth man needed for the Pesach ceremonies. However, a series of misfortunes leaves Ben stranded in the Sinai Desert after missing his plane and being ejected from a bus. His last hope lies with Adel, a grouchy Bedouin in search of his lost camel.
As Adel’s car breaks down, their predicament becomes a fight for survival in the unforgiving desert. Despite being rescued by the monks of St. Catherine, Ben’s health deteriorates rapidly. The fate of the Alexandria community hangs in the balance. Can they be saved?
This delightful comedy takes off with moments of profound empathy and cross-cultural understanding as Ben and Adel navigate their unexpected journey together, offering a heart-warming exploration of human connection and resilience in the face of adversity.
