From acclaimed director Eytan Fox (Walk on Water, Yossi and Jagger, The Bubble and Florentine) comes Israel’s more thoughtful answer to Glee. Featuring the songs of Israeli pop icon Svika Pick, Mary Lou is a colourful and charming musical about a young gay man in search of his mother. It is Meir’s 10th birthday, but the celebrations are bittersweet as his mother, Miriam (Maya Dagan from The Matchmaker), who dreams of being a famous singer, abandons him. Growing up, Meir makes it his mission to find his mother. His search takes him to Tel Aviv, where he becomes a popular drag queen named Mary Lou. Filled with dynamic musical sequences that highlight both the joyous and dramatic moments, Mary Lou is a wonderfully engaging story of a young man who, in searching for his mother, discovers himself.
