Summary

Drawing on his own childhood experiences, Marco Carmel puts onto screen an exhilarating and comic tale about a Tunisian-Israeli family seeking fortune in Paris. Determined to raise his family above struggling immigrant status, Felix finds himself being pulled into the underground criminal world of Jewish gangsters. The story is told from the perspective of Felix's son, Michael, whose idolized vision of his father as hero is forced to undergo reappraisal as he discovers the truth behind his father's actions. Set against the political backdrop of the 1967 Six Day War, Father's Footsteps is an atmospheric adventure that captures immigrant tensions in France in the late 60s. Above all, it is a unique and poignant coming of age story.
