Five Hours from Paris (Chamesh Shaot Me Paris)

Five Hours from Paris (Chamesh Shaot Me Paris)

Summary

A man discovers he needs a strong dose of courage to deal with both romantic and family crises in this romantic comedy-drama from director Leonid Prudovsky

Cabbie Yigal (Dror Keren, nominated for an Israeli Film Academy Award) is working in Tel Aviv while his ex-wife has moved to Paris with her new husband. Yigal has an intense fear of flying and is unable to accompany his son who shuttles back and forth between Paris and Tel Aviv.Nothing is easy for Yigal: he falls for Lina (Elena Yaralova), his son’s music teacher. She happens to be a Russian beauty, former concert pianist and has a husband, Grisha (Vladimir Freedman).

He's uncertain about what he should do, she may be moving to Canada and his problem with flying becomes even more urgent as his ex-wife plans a bar mitzvah celebration for their boy in France.

A very touching look into a working class Tel Aviv life that is filled with humour.  A hidden gem!
