Yes Miss Commander ( Ken Ha'mefakedet )

Yes Miss Commander ( Ken Ha'mefakedet )

Summary

Opposing forces collide in this eye-opening documentary that provides a glimpse into one of the most difficult and little known about missions in the Israeli army: Transforming troubled young men from disadvantaged backgrounds into disciplined Israeli soldiers. The ranks are comprised of those with track records spanning from criminal activity to drug abuse, most having family members that have spent time in prison. With no model of discipline and respect, this correctional military program aimed at integration and reform is the last chance for many of these young men to turn their lives around and re-enter Israeli society.

Those responsible for the change: A group of determined female commanders, some as young as eighteen years old. Despite their diminutive stature, these resolute young women must find a balance between discipline and trust in order to get through to the rebellious troops they have taken responsibility for. Motivation clashes with defiance as these incorrigible, rough young men are guided by their female commanders through the phases of basic training, establishing trust and respect along the way. “Yes, Miss Commander" exposes the seldom acknowledged positive impact the military can have on the lives of its soldiers.

In a "fly on the wall" technique, with no intervention or interpretation, “Yes, Miss Commander” presents a compelling drama full of laughter and tears.

The film is an inspiring demonstration of pride and accomplishment.
