Mrs. Moscowitz and the Cats ( B'derech El Ha'chatulim)

Mrs. Moscowitz and the Cats ( B'derech El Ha'chatulim)

Summary

Yolanda Moscowitz is a retired French teacher whose life consists of shushing the wailing screeches of the cats outside her apartment. After taking a tumble on the stairs in her building she finds herself confined to a wheelchair in the geriatric ward, where she is convinced she does not belong. It is here, surrounded by old age and death, that she rediscovers the pleasure of life and her potential for compassion. Forced out of the cocoon she has enveloped herself in, she gradually begins to reach out to those around her, developing a close bond with her roommate and caretaker.

Yolanda is captivated by Shaul Cohen and the two begin a courtship like a pair of young lovers. Complete with bashful flirtations and late night trysts, she re-discovers feelings she thought she could never have again. Sweet, funny and poignant, “Mrs. Moscowitz and the Cats” honestly examines the realities of getting older, while celebrating the fact that it is never too late for love.
