"I have a land, I don't have a country. I am a Palestinian". Dubak is an exceptional personality in the Gush Etzion region of the West Bank. A deeply religious farmer, immersed in the rocks and soil of the land, he grieves his murdered son and teaches troubled youth how to work in a community of care and become whole again. He sets up a search and rescue mission with the Bedouins to track missing persons in the desert. A somewhat lost soul himself, this kind of intense and solitary work allows him eventually to create a balance with the people and the land.
A postmodern giant who questions identity and nationhood, "a person like Dubak is not someone you have seen before. And an oversized and tragic story such as this has not been told until now."
